The French connection
(1971)
Director: William Friedkin
Starring: Gene Hackman, Fernando Rey, Roy Scheider
our comment. "Even a lushed out cop manages to score once in awhile, thank God!"
New York City detectives "Popeye" Doyle and Buddy Russo hope to break a narcotics smuggling ring and ultimately uncover The French connection. But when one of thecriminals tries to kill Doyle, he begins a deadly pursuit that takes him far outside the city limits.

May not go out on a limb to create something totally unique, but it takes all that is great about cop thrillers and polishes the zero-g thrill ride to a glossy shine.

Story: 8/10 - Based on a true story, this action-packed thriller achieved cult status, and I have no problem with that.

Acting: 10/10 - Definately Hackman's career highpoint, a well-deserved Oscar.

Violence: 5/10 - Rough and uncompromising, just the way we like it.

Nudity: 2/10 - Even a lushed out cop manages to score once in awhile, thank God!

Coolness: 9/10 - So cool it's sweet, in fact it's so sweet you could stick it in a G-string, call it Kylie and no-one would bat an eyelid.
