Tremors
(1989)
Director: Ron Underwood
Starring: Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Michael Gross, Reba McEntire
our comment. "...with all the campy nonsense we all love to hate."
Just when handymen Val McKee and Earl Basset decide to leave the city of Perfection in Nevada, strange tremors in the ground seem to delay their long awaited take off. With the help of a seismology expert they discover that their desolate town is attacked by gigantic, man-eating worms that lives under the ground.

It now becomes a race against time to outsmart the slimy monsters (wich is not so easy when you're not so smart yourself), and reach safe ground.

Suspenseful and clever, and the effects are believe it or not quite good.

Story: 7/10 - An updated 50s sci-fi movie, with all the campy nonsense we all love to hate.

Acting: 8/10 - It's got a nice bunch of hopeless characters and the actors do their bit pretty good.

Violence: 4/10 - It's got some gory stuff, but it's not nearly as disgusting as Footloose (for totally different reasons, of course).

Nudity: 0/10 - Mamie Van Doren never got to take of her clothes, so no one here gets to either.

Coolness: 8/10 - A sly and witty satire on 50s monster movies, very underrated.
