L.A. Confidential
(1997)
Director: Curtis Hanson
Starring: Kevin Spacey, Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe, Kim Basinger, Danny de Vito
our comment. "Very brutal and dark spirited, just the way we like it."
L.A Confidential is a devastating look at corruption and vice within the LAPD during the not-so-glamorous 1950s. Three very different cops, a call girl, a mysterious millionaire, a tabloid journalist, and the Chief of Detectives fuel a labyrinthine plot rife with mystery, ambition, romance and humour.

Off the record, on the qt and very hush-hush... this is an unbeliveably entertaining film.

Story: 9/10 - Based on the epic crime saga by James Ellroy, Curtis Hanso has really lifted the blackness of that novel to a cinematic high.

Acting: 10/10 - We all know what Spacey and Crowe are capable of, but Kim Basinger; who would have thought?

Violence: 7/10 - Very brutal and dark spirited, just the way we like it.

Nudity: 5/10 - When it's greed, sex and violence, you can't just remove one of them, but it's still a movie with class and dignity.

Coolness: 9/10 - Slick as a Dean Martin song, makes you wanna wear a suit.
